Jack Blank (he changed his surname to Blanc)

Jack Blank was my father.
In 1954 he changed his surname to Blanc for business reasons.

This blog is meant to be a directive for people who knew him before he changed his surname including fellow soldiers of the Canadian Army.

My father Jack Blanc was born Jack (Jacob) Blank, August 20th, 1909, in the Russian Empire's province of Byelorussia, in the district of Podolia.

The blog is a biographical and historical one, and deals with my father's family's escape from the Russian Empire/Soviet Union in 1921 during the Civil War, his military career in Canada, and during World War II, and his going to Palestine in February 1948 to help his fellow Jewish people protect themselves and prepare for independence, as well as his being shot and killed by a bank robber he was trying to prevent from getting away in 1964.
